Alex Di Carlo is a Recording Engineer, Sound designer, and Mixer from London, Ontario.
Since he first started playing classical violin in 2003, Alex’s passion for music has only grown. Although he was not motivated as a songwriter, Alex’s drive was still going full throttle. In 2008 he discovered a love for technology and began learning about audio.
In 2009 Alex was enrolled in Multi-media Design & Production at Fanshawe College, but he knew he wanted to be closer to music and audio. In 2012 Alex graduated the famous Music Industry Arts program in London Ontario. While in M.I.A Alex found that audio post-production was his true love. This lead him to win the “Best Audio in Video Award” from Fanshawe College.
While in M.I.A Alex learned a great deal of information working closely with his mentor & legendary studio operator Sy Potma. With the hands-on studio knowledge from Sy, Alex partnered up with his good friend Paul Mack to make Solar Sound Studios. From January 2011 until august 2013 Alex worked at Solar Sound keeping a busy schedule and maintaining a client base from small local bands to large corporations like the CBC.
In August of 2013, Alex was hired by Jukasa Media Group as a head recording engineer where he proceeded to record and mix music. In January of 2014, Jukasa appointed Alex as the project manager for their Dolby Atmos dubbing stage. While project manager, Alex was responsible for purchasing and overseeing the build of the stage while working closely with designers, Pilchner -Schoustal Intl. He played a key role in designing the dubbing stage’s infrastructure and operation. By the end of the year, the dub stage was complete and got international attention including a nomination for the 2015 TEC award for best room design. The room also got attention from well known Canadian publisher “Professional Sound” where it had the cover page as well as a 4-page spread story.
Throughout the construction, Alex maintained his mixing and editing skills while working with musicians in Jukasa’s music studio and also doing sound for multiple short films.
Alex has been working for Jukasa Media Group since and has overlooked and assisted in multiple operations including Jukasa Radio 93.5 FM. Alex has credits in 16+ films and has spent his life aspiring to be a re-recording mixer for film and television. Jukasa has led Alex to work alongside many great Canadian mixers like Cory Mandel, Daniel Pellerin and more.
